It was Joe Beach's work in thin file CdTe solar cells that inspired Jennifer, Joe's wife, to open a company for the joint purpose of “Making Sustainable Energy a Reality.”  Since the company's founding in 2007, Starfire Energy has grown from residential solar installations to commercials installations, mounting design efforts, and installing solar R&D systems for other companies.  In 2015, Starfire Energy was awarded a grant from ARPA-E to proceed with R&D and commercialization of a new ammonia reactor.
